Between the Lines .... I wrote this song to perform in July 2018 at a commemoration event in North West France, for the centenary of the end of World War I. The narrative takes place inside the head of a young north-eastern lad, in the form of letters to his mother from the front line. The colossal loss of life in that conflict is unimaginable. But in trying to look through this young lad's eyes, perhaps we can try and imagine what it was like for him, between those lines.

Song of the day for me. I have no words to describe my feelings. ... Such a voice and such songs do not need an arrangement. The most heartfelt songs of Joan Baez were recorded in this form. - Dmitry Postovalov
